Institutional Research Job at Midway

Midway College Job Posting:  Director of Institutional Research & Effectiveness

Full time staff position reporting to the college Provost.

  •  Reviews and revises the Institutional Effectiveness Plan and implements the research, statistical analysis and assessment to provide data to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs of the college and “use the results in a broad-based, continuous planning and evaluation process” (Criteria for Accreditation, Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools); and
  • Submits annual statistical reports, conduct and complete statistical studies for various publications and institutional benchmarks, design and complete for the institution special analytical studies
  • Assists in the assessment of the Quality Enhancement Plan and uses the results in a broad-based, continuous planning and evaluation process for the improvement of student learning;
  • Provides analysis of data in a timely and adequate informational format from which the Executive Council can make informed decisions about the operations of the college;
  • Publishes information in reports that are distributed to campus;
  • Conducts information sessions to interpret results to campus groups; and
  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Director must hold a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) and have at least two years of related experience. The position is a working data position that requires proficiency in all facets of Microsoft software, especially ACCESS, SQL and SPSS or its equivalent, requires working knowledge of accessing and maintaining databases both desktop and mainframe, have knowledge of designing and maintaining web sites, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be highly organized.

Description



Institutions of higher education accredited by a national or regional accrediting
agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education that sponsor doctoral students
are eligible to apply. An institution can sponsor more than one doctoral student.
Each student is responsible for the completion of his or her own application (with
the assistance of the institution) and must meet the following program requirements:
a. Be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited doctoral program
and either be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national (such as a person born in the Swains
Island or American Samoa) within the meaning of 8 U.S.C. § 1408, or be a lawful
permanent resident (recipient of an Alien Registration Recipient Card-Form I-551,
commonly referred to as a Green Card) or other qualified alien (such as an alien who
has been granted asylum or refugee status) within the meaning of 8 U.S.C. § 1651(b);
b. By the application deadline date, the student's dissertation proposal/prospectus
has been accepted by the full dissertation committee; c. The student will have an
assigned dissertation advisor; and d. By September 1, 2009, the student will have
satisfactorily completed all other written and oral doctoral degree requirements,
including all examinations, except the dissertation.

teaching fellowship in China

Overseas Young Chinese Forum Teaching Fellowships 2010-11



The Overseas Young Chinese Forum ("OYCF"), a non-profit organization based in the
United States, is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its
Teaching Fellowships, which sponsor short term teaching trips by overseas scholars
or professionals (Chinese or

non-Chinese) to universities or other comparable advanced educational institutions
in China. The subjects of teaching include all fields of humanities and social
sciences, such as anthropology, art, communication, economics, education, geography,
law, literatures, philosophy, political science, sociology, etc.



OYCF will grant 15 fellowship awards to support short term teaching trips during the
Academic Year of 2010-11, including five (5) OYCF-Ford fellowships in the amount of
$2,500 each and ten (10) OYCF-Gregory C.

and Paula K. Chow fellowships in the amount of $2,000 each. The application deadline
is August 15, 2010. Awards will be announced on September 15, 2010.

Alissa Young will be the Acting Chief Academic Affairs Officer responsible for Professional Development, Faculty Credentials, SACS Compliance Certification Audit, Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Student /Faculty Issues Relating to Divisions Assigned, Chemical Engineering Technology Grant, Academic Program Review for Divisions Assigned, Perkins, and Adjunct/New Faculty Orientation
