Research Opportunity
The UK Honors Program is reviewing its process of application and admission given the increase in number of applicants and the increase in the size of the program. They would like to base their reform of the admissions process on currently research. A small stipend is available for someone to complete a literature review of recruitment, application, and admissions processes for selective undergraduate programs. Priority Registration for Fall 2014 begins March 31st!

REMINDER: Doctoral students who have completed their coursework and either intend to sit for quals in Fall 2014, or have passed their qualifying exams, must register for the section of EPE 767 (Dissertation Residency Credit) listed with their Committee Chair as primary instructor. Continuous registration in EPE 767 is required during the Fall and Spring semesters only; summer registration is not required.
As always, if you have any questions or encounter any difficulty during the registration process, you should not hesitate to contact Amberly in the EPE office at aaburk00@uky.edu .

Rumi Forum Fellowship Program 2014
Rumi Forum is inviting PhD candidates and those who have recently
completed their doctorates in social sciences for a study fellowship
that incorporates a trip to Turkey with the mission of exploring
social, economic, cultural, security and political issues in Turkey
and the wider region during the following dates:
Trip #1: May 10-18, 2014 (leaving DC May 9)
Trip #2: June 14-22, 2014 (leaving DC June 13)
During this study trip, fellows will have an opportunity to meet with
civil society organizations, parliamentarians and government
officials, journalists, academicians and think-tank scholars, amongst
others, and gain an insight into topics including amongst others:
Democratization and Judicial reform
Minority issues
Role of Religion in society
Press Freedom
Role of civil society in Turkey's development
Women's issues
Education
Constitution reform process
Turkey's regional role
Fellowship eligibility and conditions:
Currently enrolled in a full-time PhD program in social sciences at a
university in these states: Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland,
Delaware, North Carolina, West Virginia and Kentucky. Part-time
students will also be considered pending availability.
Fellows will need to submit a post-trip review article of 4000-5000
words by September 30, 2014. As part of the application process they
need to submit the title of their paper and a 300-400 word synopsis
All the local transportation and accommodation costs (except personal
incidentals) will be sponsored by Rumi Forum and partners.
Participants will have to purchase their return ticket to Istanbul.
Part-time students will have to contribute to domestic flights.
Upon return from the trip, the participants are expected to share
their observations and research by way of a publishable article. The
participants are also strongly encouraged to publish their findings in
journals, blogs or other forms of media.
