EPE Higher Educaiton faculty candidate lunches

Thank you for your taking the time to meet with the Sociology of Education faculty candidates last week.
This week we have candidates for a faculty position in Higher Education coming to interview with EPE.  Dr. Joy Blanchard arrives late today (2/17), and will be making a presentation at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, 2/18. We've set up a lunch time for her to meet with graduate students on Tuesday at noon, in 131 Taylor.  We'll provide a light lunch.

Dr. Jungmin Lee will visit EPE on Feb 20th.  Her presentation is at 4pm on Wednesday, 2/20 (room TBA).  She'll be having lunch with EPE graduate students on the 20th at noon, also in 131 Taylor.  Again, EPE will provide a light lunch.

Our third candidate for this position, Dr. Cody Davidson, will visit EPE on Monday, February 24.  I'm not yet sure of his schedule other than his presentation time at 4pm. We will also schedule time for graduate students to meet with him.

If your schedule permits, we hope you'll attend their presentations and/or have lunch with these candidates.  Your feedback to Drs. Bieber or Jones (search committee co-chairs) or Dr. Goldstein in the days immediately following their visits would be much appreciated.

seeking instructors for UK HON 100

The Singletary Honors program is in need of instructors for HON 100 (Academic Orientation for Singletary Scholars). This course is a community-based learning experience with an Honor’s faculty  serving as course director and teaching one section of the course. The time commitment would be one 50-m class period a week, an hour planning meeting a week, and 1-ish hour of student support outside the classroom every 1-2 weeks (depending on the service component). The Fall/Spring syllabi is attached here although there is room for some modifications depending on the service component.  I believe you will have an enjoyable experience and your interactions with students enrolled in these classes may provide an opportunity for recruitment of these exemplary students to our majors.  If you are interested please contact Meg Marquis (memarq0@email.uky.edu).
