The Appalachian Studies Association is an excellent small organization for students interested in interdisciplinary study in the region. The conference has a good mix of scholars and practitioners appropriate to all kinds of posters, papers, and panels. We will likely have a group heading to Pennsylvania for this year's meeting, so carpooling is a possibility.
