Sustainability in Marketing Colloquium
The Von Allmen Center for Green Marketing in the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky is pleased to announce the first annual Sustainability in Marketing Colloquium. The
conference will be held at UK on December 4, 2009. The goal of this conference is to support research and education of green marketing and sustainability in the academic and business communities. Sustainability refers to development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of futuregenerations to meet their own needs. Increasingly, pursuit of sustainability addresses a triple bottom line with respect to performance. This triple bottom line includes the pursuit of economic, social, and environmental returns. The research presented at this conference will offer new insight into efforts to enhance performance on all three fronts. The presenters represent a wealth of vantage points and diverse theoretical perspectives examining green marketing. Most of the speakers on the program have been awarded grants by the center for green marketing. Kindly note that we also will have a presentation from Ray Harishankar, a senior fellow at IBM. Mr. Harishankar will give a talk about IBM's Smarter Planet Initiative and cloud computing. The conference fee is $95, but the fee is waived for UK faculty and students who register before November 1. You can sign-up at http://www.gattonibmc.org/registration.html. Space is limited, and we need accurate numbers to allocate resources for the meeting. The conference is open to the public. University faculty and marketing managers interested in sustainability and green marketing will find the conference sessions to be highly informative.
