Kudos!

Congratulations to Dr. Mike Rosenberg on his successful defense last week.  His dissertation, Generational Differences in Transfer Capital Among Community College Students, adds to our knowledge of differences among older students in navigating the transfer pathway.  Mike is the first of EdD Cohort Two to make it to the finish line...well done!

And Kudos to Dr. Laura Wyly who defended her dissertation, Gender Discrimination and Title IX Implementation: Lessons From the Office for Civil Rights Resolution Letters 1997-2011, yesterday afternoon.  Ripped from the headlines, Laura's work helps us understand the social construction of gender discrimination and the changing environment for higher education institutions seeking to provide safe climates for students to learn.  Thanks to Neal Hutchens for calling in yet again from Pennsylvania...we miss you Neal.

And be looking for great work from Robert Hayes in the coming year as he begins his dissertation study examining the relationships between independent and county high schools and their Appalachian communities.  Robert successfully passed his qualification exam for doctoral candidacy last week.

It's a wonderful time in the EPE neighborhood.  Kudos to all!
